Wren's Drawings and Estate Maps: Two Digital Resources at All Souls for Early Modern England Referees
With the loss of the British Library's online collection, I've been delving deeper into the broader offerings of UK academia for additional resources for my early modern campaign references.
For referees engaged in serious early modern England scenario and setting design, the All Souls Digital Bodleian is one of the most comprehensive and easy-to-use resources I've encountered. It's easy to navigate and contains extensive maps, estate surveys (which are incredible resources), architectural drawings, elevations, and ephemera. Multiple multi-year campaigns could be developed from All Souls alone.
These resources are particularly beneficial to referees because they offer a clear view of the organization, design, and character of period houses and estates. They are of equivalent quality to very high resolution, un-stocked dungeon or manor maps.
Perhaps most useful is the Wren and Hawksmoor collection, which contains numerous examples of the materials mentioned above:
